Safe

Short-term
residential treatment services include crisis intervention in a supportive,
group living environment for adults who are experiencing acute psychiatric
symptoms. Treatment is designed for individuals who need an intermediate
step between a hospital stay and returning home, or who wish a more structured
setting in order to prevent a psychiatric hospitalization.
Safe
Harbor is located in a semi-rural area in Woodland. The program accepts
admissions twenty-four hours a day, seven days per week.
Persons
experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms are referred to Safe Harbor through
the Mobile Crisis team or County psychiatrists, case managers or therapists.
Admission is voluntary.
New
residents develop a plan with Safe Harbor staff which specifies client
participation and services planned, as well as treatment specific to the
individual's need. Safe Harbor staff provide services and support necessary
for each resident to complete his or her plan.
Services
emphasize defining and limiting the crisis, planning the immediate and
long-term future, and mobilizing appropriate community, family and personal
resources. This is accomplished through both group planning and individual
counseling sessions. In addition to working on individual goals, each
resident participates in running the household. This includes sharing
in preparing and serving meals, cleaning and care
of the house and grounds.
All
services are coordinated with Yolo County Mental Health and other treatment
providers to ensure continuity of treatment.
